Apart from awarding the world with great thinkers and useful inventions including paper, compass, gunpowder, kites and umbrellas, the Chinese gave the world probably one of the most important national treasures – appreciated by millions around the globe - their cuisine. Now, if you think that you have tried excellent Chinese food before, think twice, as we can assure you that the food served in the most worthy Chinese restaurant of Sharm ‘Zen’ - located opposite the Savoy hotel - will amaze you with its simple taste and originality.

From the first glance one can see that ‘Zen’ is a combination of both: unforgettable Chinese atmosphere and western touch: huge glass windows facing the sea, bamboo plants used as décor on each table, Chinese decorations on the walls and huge screens showing the marine life of the Red sea – can definitely not been forgotten. Add to this nice girls dressed in red silk gowns, irreproachable service and affordable prices - and what you get is an ultimate heaven.

But the most striking thing which amazed every visitor of the restaurant was surely the food prepared by a true master Mr. Chef Zhu. Each dish contained his warmth, a piece of his culture’s heart – and the result was food which is beyond any words.

“The food prepared by the Chef Zhu can be easily characterized by four adjectives: divers, healthy, practical and extremely delicious.” – said one of the diners. Indeed, diverse – as it combines different methods, recipes and traditions.

Healthy, since the basis of the cuisine is mostly fish and vegetables, though beef and pork are also common. Another peculiarity of the cuisine is that most dishes are served hot, as in traditional Chinese culture, cold food and beverages are believed to be harmful to digestion. This is also the reason why such items as ice-cold water or soft drinks are traditionally not served at meal-time.

Practical, as the food is prepared in bite-sized pieces, ready for direct picking up and eating. “Traditionally, Chinese were against using knives and forks at the table due to fact that these implements were regarded as weapons. This is also the reason why sharp chopsticks, so commonly used in Japan, are not used in China- due to the humanity of the nation.” – says the Chef.

And delicious – try steamed shrimp dumpling in bamboo baskets, deep fried chicken spring rolls, Hang zhou beef soup, roasted Peking duck, fried glass noodle with vegetables, sweet cream of peanut (see the recipe below) and chilled Chinese longan with jelly in light syrup and you will understand what we are talking about.

Nothing can be tastier, healthier and more affordable than food in this restaurant. But don’t take our words for granted, visit the restaurant and see it with your own eyes.
